Yes... ok... thats what I thought. My objection to repealing the marriage penalty then is rooted in my belief that the right is for it as another of their social engineering ploys to encourage stay at home moms. Either situation (marriage penalty or no) is unfair in one way or the other.

Consumption taxes are looking better and better to me as the best alternative. If the US incurred consumption taxes in internet sales for example revenue would come from all kinds of sources that are not taxpayers now, and in some ways should be since the internet is a global invention used by everybody and yet financed only by the US.
