This company is able to develop and operate these facilities at a lower cost than state and local governments. They are also able to offer greater social and health services than the public sector. Earnings have grown at about a 20 percent rate over the last few years. Wachenhut earned a $.81 in 1998. Consensus estimates are for $1.00 this year and $1.27 next year.
