Program:
DiviCom provides standards-based MPEG-2 encoding products and systems for digital broadcasting and transmission over a variety of networks, including satellite, wireless, fiber, and cable. They've deployed over 5000 MPEG encoders worldwide that distribute audio, video, and data over a wide array of methods, including DTH (QPSK), MMDS, cable (QAM), ATSC (8VSB), DVB-T (CODFM), ATM, G.703, and others. We'll see how they help broadcasters and others cope with the transition to DTV.
The MV-400 is DiviCom's newest encoder, designed to meet the requirements of compressing HDTV (SMPTE 292M at 1.5Gbs) down to something that still fits within the ATSC (19.39Mbps over 8VSB) in just 1 rack unit.
DiviCom has invested in an impressive Technology Suite that not only shows the "DiviTrack" ability to share bandwidth (statistical multiplexing), but also allows for "proof of concept" and other testing evaluations of MPEG systems. The gear demo alone will make your trip over to Milpitas worthwhile.
DiviCom is kindly providing refreshments. They would like to get an approximate head count. Please email Stu Casteel at <scasteel@divi.com> by 26 June with the number of people in your party.
This is NOT a formal RSVP. Even if you haven't been able to contact Stu by show time, you should attend anyway-and bring your guests!
SMPTEsf welcomes members and friends to attend without charge.
