AOPEN LAUNCHES SAVAGE4 PRO-BASED GRAPHICS CARD NEW AOPEN PA4000
GRAPHICS CARD INTEGRATES S3'S HIGH-PERFORMANCE SAVAGE4 PRO CHIP AND
32MB SDRAM to Offer Unparalleled Graphics Performance for Less Than $100

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jun 29, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- AOpen America, the world's largest PC components manufacturer, today unveiled a new S3, Savage4 PRO-based PC graphics accelerator card, the AOpen PA4000, which offers resellers and power system builders outstanding performance for less than $100. By integrating the latest graphics chip from S3, the new AOpen PA4000 offers AGP 4X performance, high-end 3D graphics and sublime 2D performance for mainstream business applications.
"S3 is pleased to be working with AOpen to create leading price/performance graphics card solutions for resellers and system integrators," said Dan Karr, vice president of worldwide sales for S3 Incorporated. "Leveraging S3's advanced Savage4 PRO architecture, the AOpen PA4000 offers users with a highly competitive graphics solution."

Based on the S3 Savage4 PRO chip, the PA4000 delivers several unique features, including: S3's texture compression technology (S3TC), which allows for greater sized graphics storage and manipulation;
improved sustained fill rates; increased performance by maximizing AGP bandwidth; and dramatically improved image quality. Lastly, AOpen adds a considerable amount of memory, 32MB SDRAM, to further boost graphics performance.

"With the integration of S3's latest graphics architecture, AOpen offers the broadest array of graphics solutions for a myriad of market segments," said Charlie Shiang, vice president of sales and marketing at AOpen America. "In comparison to other high-end graphics cards, users gain a top-quality graphics card at a fraction of the cost."

Like all other AOpen graphics cards, the AOpen PA4000 is compatible with all major motherboards that support the AGP standard. Additionally, the PA4000 meets or exceeds FCC Class B, FTZ class B, and CE regulations. With an estimated street price of $95, the PA4000 is available now in the U.S. and Canada from AOpen authorized resellers, and is backed by a three-year, limitedwarranty.
