Yes! Most definitely. As more and more of these
multiprocessor computers are sold (eg Pentium II and III)
an OS that can drive efficiently them will be a necessity.

Picture computers where you upgrade CPU's by plugging in
modules, like you do with RAM. Want to go twice as fast?
Plug in another CPU. Linux(Unix) has been able to handle
this for a long time.

Had one for years; it's called XFree86. It's also free and
comes boxed with RH Linux. I'm using it right now.
