I am very much in agreement with nihil on this one.

But you speak like a true disciple of the "judeo-christian American ethic", or perhaps more accurately, a Puritan. (An artificial construct if there ever was one.) And of course there are many societies that encourage men to have multiple wives, "test" wives and "child" brides. Having recently been in West Africa, I met many happy men who had more than one wife and I personally think in that regard those societies may be more progressive, not regressive, than ours. Most men need more than one wife, especially if that wife happens to have been raised in the looney bin that has become America.

Even in this old US of A (unless they changed the laws) it's acceptable for 12-year olds to get married with their parents' permission if you happen to reside in Tennessee.
