Linux as a desktop needs a few generations (2 years at least) to evolve into something that's comparable in user friendliness as the 1998 MSFT product offerings. As a simple techie desktop Linux is fine ... for now it has more of chance to impact MSFT in the server arena.

Who knows what the desktop will look like in two years, but you can bet MSFT won't be standing still like SUNW is.
