It makes sense that they do not have to rely on the outsourced deals with other vendors for their ASIC's. I am a little surprised at the price. Cimmaron wnt to ACC (I believe) for less than 120 mil. this year, providing SONET chipsets. It is critical to keep this technology proprietary at these speeds, IMO.

ASND (east) has just started going the ASIC route over the past couple of year. Having LU's microelectronics center at their disposal may provide a delivery and cost advantage.
