Your just have to love Spence "The Katt's" rumors...

Nothing like Novell to brighten a gossip's day. When Novell
ran the show, WordPerfect's programmers were withering on
the vine as they struggled to develop Version 7 of the
WordPerfect suite on lame-o 486 PCs. After Corel took over,
the place was soon jumping with spanking new 166MHz
Pentium upgrades. The hero of the day is new boss Mike
Cowpland, who has since become a bigger local hit than
Brigham Young. Novell, which has been rumored to be up for
grabs more times than Madonna, is again the subject of
industry whimsy. "Hmmm," Spence wondered, "is
Hewlett-Packard really interested this time around?" Other
succulent sound bites from tipsters paint a picture of a
company still rocking to reorganizations. What with all the
outside consultants getting paid big bucks to fix whatever it is
they're paid to fix, the joint must be turning into a consultant's
dream.

From this week's column on ZDnet.
