Interesting thoughts about the MP3 developments.

Meanwhile, here's an interesting datum about Orb performance vs. Jaz.

Jaz drives come with write verify enabled by default, although it can be turned off via software to improve performance. Iomega uses Jaz drives with write verify ON to produce all their performance specs, since the majority of users will be using them that way.

Castlewood, on the other hand, has chosen to publish performance specs based on drives with write verify OFF, even though they recommend that all users enable it. That would mean that the write performance users get wouldn't be the same as what Castlewood claims for the drive.
