What's wrong with this picture? It isn't the petroleum industry that loses any income per se by the commercialization of fuel cells. It is the jurisdiction that has taxation powers. Some areas of Canada pay twice the retail price at the pumps, now all of a sudden tax income is cut 75% because the retail consumer will be get 4 times the mileage on a tank of gas. Then factor in the tax losses for an automobile upgrade that will cost 1 tenth of the technology that they are publicly supporting. If I could stall long enough to build an infrastructure for the large metropolitan areas. Replace gasoline with a more expensive fuel that gets less mileage, download the environmental damage to sparsely populated areas my chances of getting re-elected would be fair. With a deficit budget not very good. The petroleum industry on the other hand would have other markets, and a chance to life cycle their plants in an orderly fashion towards natural gas which could be considered a renewable fuel. The government's role should be redirected toward cleaning up our existing infrastructure and building future natural gas feedstock from our cities biological wastes.
Go for it Global Thermoelectric you are your own show!
