KJ-IBM let's go of 1100 people from their storage division and now goes into talks about taking over Sequent which has FC switches supplied by Brocade. Their would seem to be a link between these 2 events.
Is that link a SANs strategy for IBM? Any chance you could connect the dots.

Possible other factors? I'll just throw them out and you can shoot them down.

1)RS6000 possibly the fastest, most powerful number crunching machine on the planet with tons of proprietary software. Ask Gary Kasparov.<g>

2)IBM with many of it's flaws is still a software powerhouse.

3)IBM continuing to position itself as an Internet company and possibly the largest business to business e-commerce company(no data to back this one up, but it is clear that is their strategy).

4)Could their SANs(FC) strategy be tied primarily to internet data.

5)IBM very weak in storage.

Throwing this stuff out to you to see how the dots connect.Just chuck out the ones that aren't relevant.

On a final note-I did get one thing right last week. Posted that if IBM couldn't make it themselves they'd buy a whole company or three to get them back in the SANs ballgame.

>>>Who knows maybe IBM goes on a buying spree like they did a few years back with Tivoli and Lotus.<<<

Thanks in advance, Ed
