As of June 1999, 10,000 advertisers actively participated in GoTo.com's online marketplace. Advertisers pay a fee, which they set, only when a GoTo user clicks through to their site, providing them with tight control of customer acquisition costs. The GoTo pay-for-performance model also enables advertisers to precisely target their consumers. Advertisers benefit from the tremendous reach and volume of consumer exposure that GoTo delivers to them by distributing the GoTo search product across a network of more than 80,000 Web sites.

Since the launch of the Search Syndication Network (SSN) in December 1998, the program has attracted more than 80,000 participating affiliate sites. SSN enables any Web site - no matter what size - to incorporate GoTo.com's search functionality for free into its site. Providing search allows sites to keep visitors longer and gives sites the opportunity to generate additional revenue.
