Economic numbers for Wednesday, June 30th, 1999

The leading index increased 0.3 percent, the coincident index increased 0.2 percent, and the lagging index held steady in May. Taken together, the three composite indexes and their components show a healthy economy:
-The coincident indicators point to GDP rising at a pace of over 2.5 percent (annualized) in the 2nd quarter of 1999.
-The leading indicators point to a continuation of the expansion through the remainder of 1999.
-There is little evidence of cyclical imbalances that would jeopardize the economy's stability.

CHICAGO, June 30 (Reuters) - The Chicagoland Business Barometer rose to a seasonally adjusted 60.0 in June from 57.9 in May, the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM)-Chicago said on Wednesday.
