Inflation starts to weigh on USA

After years of remarkably stable prices, there is evidence inflation is re-emerging to threaten the longest peacetime expansion since World War II.

Rising inflation makes housing less affordable and erodes purchasing power, making it harder for households to maintain living standards. Worries about rising inflation and an overheating economy are key to why the Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates Wednesday for the first time in more than two years. But it takes months for the impact of interest rate hikes to ripple through the economy.

Meanwhile, millions of U.S. consumers are beginning to feel the pinch.
