What I see in all of this is a bunch of companies trying to keep pace with the digital revolution which is not an easy thing to do. They're trying to predict the future and create it at the same time. CPQ is a good example of a company that was once everybody's darling but hasn't been able to keep up recently. You could say that CPQ has fallen off of the crest of the wave, although longtime CPQ investors have been well rewarded. (http://quote.yahoo.com/q?s=CPQ&d=mys) DELL and GTW want to avoid the same fate so it makes sense (to me, anyway) that I might not understand what they're doing just yet. They're trying to anticipate a future that they see more clearly than I.
