Just another friend, another letter, handled a lot better this morning than the few in the past, no big deal!!
Story, story, who's got the story???????
July 4th coming up, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday????? Which day shall it be. In Idaho it's Saturday, I heard in Utah it's Monday, and heard somewhere (Can't remember) that it was Friday. The seperation of church and state has finally gone over the deep end. Our polititions, in their never ending zeal to show just how idiotic each can be, have declaired that the single, most American holiday, of the year cannot be celebrated on July 4th, BECAUSE IT'S SUNDAY!!!
Our country was founded on the precept of individual and religous freedoms. That is the only reason America became America and not "Lil London". Yet our leaders have taken the concept of "seperation of church and state" so far left that there is now a solid wall that was never meant to be there. This is absurd, as a child I can remember the 4th of July falling on Sundays before. Was it moved, no. The church celebrated with the community, the picnic's, games, even fireworks set off behind the chapel house. When did this change???? And a better question, WHY???????
The when, I have no idea, as it has been sneaking all around us unseen for so long that we do not recognize it any longer until it is too late. But the "Why", I have an idea. Lay out your calender, if you have a good one that lists "all" of the holidays, scarey, isn't it. Now count the holidays that say "Actual" vs "Celebrated/Observed", whoa!! What did you find? This year I came up with 7, but now the rub...last year there were 8. Aha, the plot thickens. Why? Why? Why? the difference.. Now to my idea, last year 8 of the holidays fell on a Tuesday-Thursday or Saturday/Sunday, as with this years 4th of July, but last year only 7 of them did!! Now you ask yourselves, why would that make any difference in the price of eggs? Hahahaha!! I'm getting close!! If the holidays fall in the middle of the week or on weekends ...... Guess what ...... No three day weekend!!!!!!!!
Now you can see that their excuse of "seperation of church and state" is but a ruse to hide the fact of another day off for the government!
Now this year they put in a new twist, 4 days!! They justify this by saying that some states prefer to celebrate before the actual day rather than be late, but they did convince at least one state to say, "We cannot do it on Friday, we want Monday instead. Our Govenor has a doctors appointment on Friday". Oh happy days, an excuse for a 4 day weekend and they are sucking it for all it is worth. Myself, my country was "Born on the 4th of July", and I will celebrate it's Birthday on Sunday until God strikes me done with a thunderbolt, or I run out of fireworks, whichever comes first!
