VeriSign And Diversinet Join Forces To Offer Authorization Solution
TORONTO, CANADA--Combination of VeriSign OnSite and Diversinet's Passport Authorization Server(tm) Extends the Use of Digital IDs to convey user privileges
Diversinet Corp. (NASDAQ Small Cap: DVNT, CDN: DVNT), a leading provider of security solutions for e-commerce, and VeriSign Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSN - news), the world's leading provider of Internet-based trust services, today announced that they are teaming up to integrate their products and services to deliver extended authorization capabilities for any enterprise using digital certificates. This combination allows for greater flexibility in defining access control restrictions and privileges to mission-critical applications throughout the enterprise. This agreement between the two parties follows several months of product compatibility testing using Diversinet's Passport Authorization Server(tm) (beta version) and VeriSign OnSite.
Diversinet's Passport Authorization Server(tm) issues Digital Permits(tm) to certificate holders. Each Digital Permit(tm) contains specific privileges that assign the certificate holder a defined level of access to a given application. Digital Permits(tm) could be used in a wide variety of applications, including coupons in loyalty programs, lines of credit for auctions, access control for applications, receipts for financial and stock trading, pay per view tickets via set-top-boxes, and assigning digital rights for subscription services.
Stratton Sclavos, President and CEO of VeriSign, said, ''With Diversinet's authorization technology, a new dimension is added to the authentication process, extending the functionality of the VeriSign digital certificate. With the Diversinet Passport Authorization Server(tm), not only is the individual identified, but the user can also be associated with a specific buying power level or any other desired privilege.''
Nagy Moustafa, President and CEO of Diversinet, said, ''This partnership represents an important enhancement to our product. By integrating our Passport Authorization technology with VeriSign OnSite, customers will be able to expand their e-commerce opportunities and increase customer loyalty by providing additional Internet-based services.''
