Independent Studies Confirm Safety of BriteSmile Procedure

LESTER, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 1999--BriteSmile, Inc. (AMEX:
BWT) today announced that its proprietary BriteSmile 2000 teeth whitening system has been tested and found safe by senior university researchers.

Independent safety studies completed earlier this year at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and reviewed by researchers at New York University found that the BriteSmile procedure did not cause structural changes of enamel, is safe to enamel, and is not caustic or corrosive.

Individuals interested in obtaining summaries of the findings from both universities on the BriteSmile procedure may do so by calling 1-800-284-4656.

"We are pleased that independent studies conducted by major institutions confirmed the safety of the BriteSmile 2000 procedure," said John Reed, Chief Executive Officer of BriteSmile. "These results were consistent with the later findings of our own clinical trials."

BriteSmile is opening BriteSmile Professional Teeth Whitening Centers and Associated Centers in strategic locations across the U.S. as well as in various international markets, including Canada and Japan. In addition, the Company recently signed an agreement with Orthodontic Centers of America to offer the BriteSmile System in selected OCA locations.
