What core position? this is weird.. A core losing position.. A negative core position. I have a core position in ADBE, INTU, MACR, GMST, ITN, etc.. but these are gaining, good positions with upward momentum. A core position in a short that is gaining.. Its like keeping DELL through a 20 point drop and calling that a core position while the next guy has gotten out with a profit and is biding his time until he reenters.. A core position is a long position or a short position that is consantly accruing gains. I won't have a "core position" I'll have a position that is fresh without losses or any 'baggage'.. What your core position is now is just accrued losses, no matter what the moniker you attach to it.
