I've been trying to understand these mergers and I now theorize that Qwst might be interested in building local broadband systems using existing phone company local routes...(Traditional phone companies are not building broadband systems in the way that the cable TV companies are building...but a phone company with a new type of orientation might build...)...

Well...U.S. West at the merger offers still has a P/E of only in the low twenties...so an issue of Qwst stock to buy it might hold investor and market approval...

And the current Qwst stock price is compelling...BellSouth paid $47 a share for 10% of Qwst...
