LCOS has a market cap of $ 4.0 billion as of the close today based on the shares outstanding as reported in the YHOO profile section for
LCOS. That's $ 3.28 billion for the 82% that CMGI doesn't own.
The value of Alta Vista (20.9 million shares of CMGI + $ 220k for 83% of Alta
Vista) equates to $ 3.2 billion. Doesn't sound to me like CMGI was
able to buy Alta Vista for 50% of what it would cost to buy
LCOS. Comments please. Alta Vista is close to break even due in part
to the fact that the company has spent a total of $ 1 million for marketing
year to date. Doesn't sound to me like Alta Vista was such a bargain
relative to the cost of purchasing LYCOS.
