Believe it or not, I got this close || to meeting Peter Noone and the Hermits at the peak of their prime, and before mine, in 1965. For reasons that are not worth going into, the opportunity flew by, never to return. Although I didn't know it then, better things were in store for me -- sharing a 5th of whiskey with B.B. King and friends, and then driving from Pasadena to South Central LA with him to a show that he was headlining -- me and my friends were the only white guys in the place and everybody was so far out that I wanted to be black --- let's see, that was in 1967, I think...A few years later, I was trying to sneak into a Lightning Hopkins show in Berkeley and hooked up and got stoned with a guy who turned out to be Neil Young... Other than that, my life has been really boring. I guess if I print this I'll give up my aspiration (should I use that word?) to run for President... |
