Hi Obe,
If a company makes a claim in a 10-K filing, you may, as a member of the 'general-public investing commmunity' rely upon the statement. To wit: regarding any reporting company: You don't go f***ing around with the SEC, unless you are a really arrogant fool. What VTSS claims is true, but only for the moment. But what you must focus on is how long the window of opportunity is open. To wit, GaAs is regarded as stable enough for OC-48 but will be superceded by SiGer at OC-192. The issue is jitter. When the photonics guys kick in in the terabit range, all these 'yesterday' solutions will wilt before the most ascendant totally photonic VSCEL solutions. So, go figure, and do DD on the material science labs at Wayne State, Carnegie Mellon and most likely UCLA on the left coast (BRCM's breeding ground). Don't get too far ahead of the curve and don't snooze and you may come up with Mr. Market's favorites before they launch or before they die. Else, BiCMOS?...... sorry for the attitude.
a Taiwanese foundry. TSM, Acer or UMC?
