Wasn't a 10 cent/gallon GAS TAX imposed NATIONALLY during the early 1980's ?

I don't recall that tax ever being REPEALED.

Speaking of GAS TAX - why don't we tax FAT PEOPLE who take up too much space, breathe too much air and eat too much food?
