The debt is made an issue, just as you mentioned earlier, Victor.
We, of course, realize what extent politicians will go to for an audience. Appears, due to the timing of this controversy, that they're more than a bit upset the G-7 hasn't ear-marked some of their debt for forgiveness.
There are only three (3) genuine market reformers in all of Latin America -- Argentina, Chile and Peru. You'd think the U.S. would do more to assist them; instead, we ignore them. The exact mistake that in the 50's spun them off into the arms of a variety of undesirable reforms. I, for the life of me, can not understand why Washington continues their lame-brained LatAm policy, or complete lack thereof.
Back to Argentina: What do we know? That good economic policy will bring successful political performance; the converse also being true. So, they'll pander that paradigm in various packages to the public for a while. Let's just hope their congress doesn't attempt any political legislation that will do more harm than good, as the B.A. Herald warned several weeks ago.
The globe needs a thriving Argentina. I'm on their side. Unless, of course, they too one day begin displaying signs they'd like to "Kill All Americans."
I haven't decided to do any new investing in S.A. Not yet.
Off to work. Hope you have plans and will enjoy the holiday, Victor. |
