I don't want to quibble about it, so all I'll say is that if they spent the time and money to put out decent products in the first place, the excessive need to defer revenue to cover the cost of ongoing fixes would be substantially lowered. Let's face it, their "Service Packs" are, for the most part, fixes, and many are to fix problems they knew about when they released the original products.

Also, if MSFT itself is saying that they deferred too much revenue, then in fact they did err.
