In response to your request, the information about Mining of
diamonds in the State of Minas Gerais, we have to inform the following:
Although still not very researched, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso are
main States of Brazil in the production of diamonds. Specifically in the State of Minas
Gerais they highlight:
1)As occurrences aluvionares of the Rios Jequitinhonha - in the area of
Diamantina(city), North east of the State and its tributary of the left
margin, Rio Itacambira and the conglomerate " Sopa " of the Serra do
Espinhaço (Mountain of Espinhaço) (area of High Jequitinhonha);
2) the area of Coromandel(city), west of the state, close the emblem with the State of
Goiás, where there is a great occurrence of (Kimberlitos), they happen diamonds in
alluviums, with prominence to Rio Paranaiba (emblem of the states of Minas Gerais and
Goiás);
3) In the area of Rio San Francisco, we highlighted its tributaries of the margins left,
Rivers of the Prata, Sono, Urucuia, Paracatú, Abaeté and Indaia. In High San
Francisco, close to the "Parque Nacional da Serra da Canastra", they happen
kimberlitos with good primary perspectives of
mineral occurrence.
Of the companies that stop title of it plows, we highlighted: Rio
Novo Mineração Ltda (Grupo Andrade Gutierrez) and Tejucana Mineração Ltda, both
along Rio Jequitinhonha and SOPEMI (Group De Beers) in the area of Coromandel.
Other companies that stop research areas in close Area to Rio San Francisco
(denominated Area of High San Francisco), they are: Copper South Mineração Ltda,
Parimá Mineração S.A., SOPEMI (De Beers /Angloamerica).
Several occurrences of ' Garimpos' is located along the Rios
Jequitinhonha, of the Rest and Abaeté, besides the claims of the area of Coromandel.
