There is no need for the President to take an oath on the bible unless he wishes. It is quite clear in the Constitution that no one is required to take an oath at all on any holy book. I have always affirmed (in the US) on my word and on no book at all rather than take an oath. Jesus said according to St. Matthew that one should not swear oaths. I've always wondered why so many Christians routinely violate this injunction? Perhaps Jesus was mistranslated in the KJV. But that would make a word in the bible in error! Is a puzzlement.
