The alliance will not create a link to Books-A-Million's Web
site from Wal-Mart's site, but will provide a wholesale fulfillment
function for Wal-Mart, said David Magee, an analyst at Robinson-Humphr
Co.
Books-A-Million spokesman Terrance G. Finley sees the Wal-Mart
alliance as a "tremendous opportunity" for the company's wholesale
business, although by fulfilling online book orders, Wal-Mart's
Web site will compete with Books-A-Million's own Internet site.
