Continuing off-topic, I have to admit to wanting to be where the market's going, not where it is. The challenge comes in doing enough research to spot the winning technologies and then to do enough praying to choose the right managers. So much depends on execution -- and explains why Silicon Valley VCs back people more than ideas.

I'm learning not to be a hero and load up too much too early --- with a few battle scars to underline the point. There's nothing wrong with taking a modest position and adding on the way up as the company delivers.

I still don't know how to time exits. I've made money in ASND, CSCO, TXN, QCOM, and a number of other stellar names, and got out too early in every case. If you have any wisdom, fire away.

And, now, it's time to do some gardening. :)
