The short interest was last this high in December 1998. Then the stock went on to almost $30 the next month. Could the short interest shown here be arbitrage due to the tracking stock split coming up or even due to the pre-announcement on June 4th. On that date, lots of people may have written covered calls and that gets included in short interest. I have no explanation. When does the next short interest report come out and do you really think Quantum has an unholy secret to tell since they are on a road show to tout the tracking stocks?
