CPQ could cut some of the fat from their manufacturing costs if they get rid of the electronically assisted floppy drive. How much does it cost to ad that the machine vs. a standard PC floppy drive?

There's really no function to it on a PC. Windows does not recognize or take advantage of the motorized eject feature.

PC software developers do not program for it either. All it does is make it sound like a Mac when it ejects.

At least the Mac makes use of the feature. ie. installing software, it ejects and automatically continues the install as each new disk is inserted.

On Compaq you still have to press the eject button, then click on the CONTINUE button in the software. This can add up to 20 minutes in your installation time.

CPQ should either get rid of the motirized assit or pressure software developers to incorporate in the programs. Then, they can market it as a true feature exclusive of Compaq.
