ON TOPIC: Regarding CSCO

My wife works at CSCO, and she took me by her office this last weekend. In the process, we ended up driving by the new corporate headquarters building. To get there, we had to drive through what seemed like MILES of Cisco buildings. Building after building after building. Dozens of them, all large and nice looking. Each building at least two stories tall, many of them three and four stories tall. I couldn't believe my eyes. I had just been by the campus last year, and the construction on the latest phase was just starting. They are freaking huge! Immense even! I always knew Cisco was big, but wow!

Imagine you are a potential customer of Cisco. You fly in to their world headquarters for a meeting with the V.P. of Sales (you are a big customer). You are chauffered in from the airport, and you get to see just how enormous this Cisco company is. Then you go to the new corporate headquarters building. This thing is something like five stories tall, and is only slightly less impressive than the "Tyrell" building from the movie "Blade Runner". Really. Gee, do you think that this would tend to make a good impression on a potential big telecom customer who is concerned that you will be there tomorrow to support your equipment? Of course it will.

I always knew Cisco would be big, but they have really exceeded my expectations. More importantly, I really believe that their best days are ahead of them, which is more than I can say for either Intel or Microsoft.
