Ian, I tend to agree with those assessments. The US consumer market is clearly saturated at about 50% penetration with the price points we are used to seeing. It becomes slow growth through the upgrade cycle and those adding additional PC's to the household.

Many of the untapped 50% are less fortunate. The goal is to get these folks wired in. With the FREE/lease-a-PC-from-your-ISP concept, I say we get 75% to 85% of the households wired within 3yrs.

The natural byproduct of this increase is the need to continually build the internet infrastructure via. servers, storage, routers,
hubs, switches etc. The obvious beneficiaries, CSCO, DELL, IBM
(CPQ is toast) etc. Erosions in PC prices will be partially offset
by the increase in higher end HW sales.
