Sorry everyone...but I just have to make corrections where needed. The silversword that you refer to on Haleakala...is an endangered species. This particular one...is only found on the slopes of Haleakala on Maui...However there are other plants that grow on Haleakala...Proteas flourish there. Have you heard of the Bike trip down the road from Haleakala? It is supposed to be a blast. No need to hike...and it is all down hill! I can send people any brochures they desire...on Island activities...there really is too much to do, and too much to see. Deciding which Island to go to is much harder than deciding to go long on GNET...good luck!
