To David: Your point can be argued in reverse just as well. When the market goes up, staying in cash is foolish, and a stock such as UNPH is where to be.

Since no one has a clue what the overall market will do tomorrow, next week, next month or next year, trying to "time" the market requires an ability to predict which is rare if not impossible.

Sure your approach will perhaps not risk much loss in absolute money terms, but in opportunity cost terms - an opportunity to make money - the loss can be huge.

To each his own. Or you pays your money and you takes your choice. Or something. :-)
