The entire Net Tools suite is implemented in a 62 site network over which me and my team have total responsibility. I am not saying these products are all absolute best of breed. What I am saying is that no one gets the orchestrator piece and how it ties the whole picture together. The literature I read is saying that numbers for security related expenditures are going through the roof in 2000. NAI has a suite that no one else can match for the end to end solution.
Having said that I will say this, Larsen is a poor mans Bill Gates wannabe and I think he and his lieutenants should be removed. If that occurs then the sky is the limit and if it does not occur the products may still pull his butt out of the fire. Do not underestimate consolidated management and reporting. TCO is where it is at in the 21st century and anything that takes the place of warm bodies will have a place.
Which products do you see as mediocre? TVD performs right there with Norton and I am excited about this email xray addition and the personal intrusion detection being built in to the new release, TNS hangs in there against multiple products from other companies and cybercop is strong, TSD is getting there and the Magic front end is nice, and TNV is the premier network analysis tool from the hardcore bithead side available? You can make the argument that Remedy is better, that Shomiti is better, that Norton AV is better, that ISS is better, that Checkpoint is better but even if I give you all those points, without arguing about specifics, NAI still comes out on top in my opinion. WHy? IMHO, the fact that I listed 5 companies and still did not talk about PKI infrastructure and several other areas that the product addresses is the reason it is a better solution.
Why do you need a 200 megaton warhead when the 180 megaton blew up the world? Can you blow up the world into smaller pieces? Like yourself I am a humble investor who cannot stand what Larsen has done. On the other hand if we could get rid of that loser, I believe the stock would appreciate to probably the mid-20's quickly.

All of this is IMHO,

David
