I tend to side with Tinker. VoD is infinitely more complex, and much more expensive and political (studios in the loop) than cable modem/internet service which is a "best effort" data delivery scheme, a very "mature" technology compared to VoD. People are clammering for fast internet service and are willing to pay a premium for it even if it is full of problems. VoD has not developed such a fever as yet. The industry's reliance on @Home to get fast internet service "up" leads one to think that VoD will be done the same way ... outsourced to a service providers for a cut of the take.
