<<Am I missing something?>> nothing is free. the free pc movement has limited reach, limited scope, limited pricing, limited support, limited systems: in other words, it's limited relative to affect. if may affect the consumer side of the market (gateway) but has had no impact on the business side. 99% of businesses can't run effectively on the free pc structure as it exists. anyway, Dell's stock price has had little to do with free PC's. it's had more to do with the hold about 9 market makers have held over Dell upward movement. that hold is being slowly broken. there are weaknesses developing in their "defense" methods
