If you ever saw the hedges I have in place with short puts and calls you would understand my background better. As I said, bottoms are the time to sell the hell out of puts if your position in the security is cash oriented. The leverage is huge and the requirements minimal. Then, after an increase in price, an associated pairing of well out of the money calls is placed, at essentially minimum maintenance requirements. Options 101 it ain't but it can be learned and practiced, especially with positions of 5,000 shares or less with a good option trading company.
