What is intriguing is so from an intellectual perspective on investor pyschology and how emotions move markets. It is not intriguing as an investment - in part because of the unusual emotional contribution of VLNC shareholders as manifested by the VLNC longs and some of the shorts on this and the Yahoo threads. In other words, there are many superior investment options out there. This one is unpredictable over the short term and over the intermediate to long term it is both inferior as a long or short position.
