Hello Vaughn,
OFF TOPIC KIND OF....SUFs property is another alluvial JV with CNB.
This Sunday CNB/PVFs alluvial operation will begin. If their figures are correct it may indeed change the minds of many. The processing of alluvial gravel is much cheaper per cubic meter than the processing
of Kimberlite materials. As in one of your previous posts it should be noted that the quality of alluvials are usually higher than the source. I know that the diamonds tested by CNB are said to be worth $140.00 U.S. per carat...Now at an average grade of .22 carats per cubic meter and a plant capable of running some 400 meters per hour that could produce some 88 carats per hour. This carat per meter figure was taken miles down stream and the plant is setting up operations much closer to the Kimberlite source..so with that respect I would assume that the carat count would be elevated. Since one of the samples contained over 3 carats per meter and was 'thrown out" of the figures released by CNB/PVF.
The expect recovery is less than $20.00 per carat not including the gold or platinum which is clearly visible in the sands.
They expect to have a "Sortex" machine shortly to process the larger gravel because the machines in place now will only catch the diamonds under 36 centimeters in diameter.
If the success they are hoping for is achieved on this river the plan is to add 3 more plants. They seem to have a minimum resource of some 600 million cubic meters of material on the Rio Do Sono. I would suspect that since Mr. BAines ran highley profitable alluvial productions in Serria Leon he may well know what he is doing and what he is saying and that his production targets will be meet.
It is safe to assume that we will indeed know shortly....Cheers from the eternal optomist....DD
