Michelle, I did not read the NYT article, a inveting partner who I keep in touch with was commenting on ARBA, several weeks before the IPO. So I defer to you on what they do. I have not studied them at all.

on software, despite being a sort of hybrid software/ecommerce company it
is unclear to me that ariba will prevail at what they do... I am seeing pure web
companies like employease popping up that basically outsource peoplesoft
technology to the web - customers pay a sort of commission and poof they are
online. With ariba, you have to buy the software and implement. There is no all web
outsourced purchasing module that does what ariba does but thats the future

very interesting perspective, I think you may be on to something in the way that the evolution of this area will occur.

Right now the market is valuing numerous technologies as if they will all be winners, and that clearly will not be the case. The glass is half FUll but right now IT LOOKS pretty darn full....that is the optimism of a bull market.
