Actually, I personally wouldn't mind. My main concern at this point is to argue that there is reason to accommodate the sensibilities of the community, as long as there is no proselytizing, and as long as every significant group within the school has similar recognition. From that stand- point, I think that if they want an actual quotation, they should have it. There are appropriately innocuous passages in the Bhagavad- Gita, the Analects, the Koran, and from various Buddhist sutras as well. If necessary, put them all up. If you can find a wiccan saying that encourages helpfulness, or a Santeria saying that encourages telling the truth, by all means. I think it should be unnecessary to represent everything unless there are several students of the faith in question, but otherwise, I am game....I am almost out the door, just waiting for my wife to wrap up a couple of things before leaving, so if I am silent in a short while, please excuse me.... |
