I noted this and another small company I am interested in both began getting lively around the same time on July 1. Perhaps it is something to do with:

a. June 30 closed out the last quarter's numbers and someone knows they were OK or better than OK?

b. The Russell index and other hints suggest that the market is broadening out to include some smaller names at last. Perhaps with the last quarter just over this is a time for fund managers to make some moves?
