For following the AOL thread, reading email, and placing some trades with Fidelity, do you think the extra speed is worth it?

That depends on what a user wants from the Internet. Doing what you and are right now I see no benefit or reason for the extra cash outlay or the speed. Someone that runs a web based business will see this much differently then I. This is of course not taking into account any new services that the web will offer where higher connection speeds will be a requirement. Web TV for instance.

The higher speed connections will have a targeted user audience
at first. I'm sure their are cable modem users that will read this and disagree but I find my 56k, 80 RAM system plenty fast enough for what I do.
