Yes, earth mothers! You know, though, I am not sure that what I have done will work, and yet I must persist in trying. It IS something of a double message to say at the same time that sexuality is best delayed, but urge taking precautions. I would SO much rather have my child sexually active in a reasonably healthy way than infected with the AIDS virus or something else, or in a crisis pregnancy. I guess it is logical, however, in that sheer survival is our first goal for our children.

I have noticed here in San Francisco--I think I wrote a post about it a couple of years ago--that teenagers who are in college prep classes and have many years of school ahead of them do seem to spend much more time in big groups than going out on dates, while children for whom the future is NOW seem to be much more sexual. I wonder how we could change that so more teenagers wait to have sex?
