thanks for coming over.

I was wondering about the use of copper for changing from mechanical to electrical forms of energy and back. as is done in electric motors, generators, and alternators.

Can electrical current be induced into(or from) anything other than copper, cheaply enough as to be practical, as done with magnets?

Will the copper winding application go away also? and soon?

I remember in the 70's & early 80's we tried aluminum as home, industrial, and heavy transmission wiring when copper prices last zoomed. The results were far from great and the loss of life and property so massive that code was rewritten as to exclude their use.
Do you think people will again go back to aluminum wiring with ease?
thanks
