Paul Allen invisions a "Wired World" that will transform information, entertainment and communications. Among the trends he sees that will bring about this world are the development of a broadband infrastructure and the convergence of different media in digital form on this infrastructure. He has grown Charter Communications into the fourth largest cable company in the nation and he is providing the future programming for his digital media network with his investments in a broad array of content providers and e-commerce companies.

I see his investment in Go2Net as a key to his master plan. It will be one of the centerpieces of his network acting as a content aggregator much in the way that NBC or CBS does for television. As the home page for the Charter Cable digital media network it would be the portal to a broadband world that could provide content much more compelling than today's primitive narrowband content. If Go2Net does indeed fit into Mr. Allen's in such a way the potential revenue streams down the line would be mind-boggling. And Mr. Allen would be one step closer to world domination and Go2Net would be one step closer to entering the all-time stock Hall of Fame.
